Grande

A caffeine-like shot of front line business

Clearworth coaches and mentors a group of up to 12 through the rudiments of running their own coffee cart business, all from an eye-catching Piaggio coffee cart run in a company location. Split into teams and given the best in business and then barista training, the groups are then left to think through, discuss and decide upon:

  • name and logo
  • branding
  • location
  • what-if scenarios
  • strategies for dealing with the competition
  • costs and price setting pricing (including mastering a spreadsheet)
  • promotions
  • goals
  • rules
  • customer service.

If your organisation has been looking for a socially responsible project that can make a huge impact upon the future of young people, then the Coffee Cart Project Grande option may be the one for you, working with a group of young people to give them a head-start in business. The experience provides the young people with entrepreneurial skills and thinking that will serve them well in the world of work, whatever they go on to do.

Alternatively, you can use it as a challenge for your own employees or managers. And, as a team building exercise, it's hard to beat!

With a competitive element designed to bring out their best, participants choose a charity of their choice for any profits made through coffee sales.

Sponsoring companies have the opportunity to brand the vehicle, as well as get involved in publicity around the project.

And, although Clearworth designs and runs the project, there is plenty of scope for your organisation to add its own unique stamp, perhaps emphasising what you think is important in the world of business and commerce.

Already up and running, the Coffee Cart Project is currently working with a group of young people from the Robert Levy Foundation in Hackney, London.

Here’s what two of the participants had to say about their experience:

"I have learned so much and I’m getting up at four in the morning to make the most of this opportunity. Before I started this I was just a mum and housewife. Now, I’ve had a glimpse of how I can use my brain and make money and I love it! Although the pressure is huge, I’ve learned that that’s business, and the look on people’s faces when I give them their coffee is worth it. I was planning to go back to an ordinary job in a hairdressers, but now I’m thinking seriously about what I can do with my future as I don’t want to waste what I’ve learned here."
Amira

"This project will give me the opportunity to learn valuable skills that I can later take on with me in the future. I will be able to improve my teamwork, communication and all round business skills. I hope that I will be able to build a bright future having worked on this project on behalf of EDF and the RLF. At the end of this project I am determined to find a good job and this will only help enhance my future job prospects."
Chris

You can choose to run the project as an intensive one-week option, or spread it out over a period of two to three months. For more information, or to check availability, please get in touch with us.
